Core Responsibilities
  • Managing the bank branch to achieve sales goals, and ensure efficient operation of the branch
  • Provide strong leadership, coaching, management and direction of the branch team to ensure delivery of superior quality service and product support for bank customers
  • Calls on current and prospective customers with the goal of enhancing and supporting a full banking relationship with Mercantile Bank

As a Full‑Time Branch Manager at Mercantile Bank, you will play an integral role in fostering and enhancing full banking relationships with both current and prospective customers. Your responsibilities will include selling deposit products and basic treasury services, as well as sourcing referrals for commercial and treasury partners. You will oversee consumer lending and manage the sales process for in‑branch retail activities, leveraging our Customer Relationship Management System (360) to optimize staff performance.

Additionally, you will mentor and coach branch staff to enhance their sales skills and ensure they meet quarterly goals. You will champion a customer‑first approach while supervising daily operations, implementing risk management strategies, and conducting regular audits.

This leadership role also involves actively promoting a positive bank image within the community, ensuring compliance with all regulations, and fostering a collaborative team environment dedicated to delivering exceptional service.

What We’re Looking For

To excel as a Full‑Time Branch Manager at Mercantile Bank, candidates should possess a robust blend of skills and expertise. Strong sales and customer service skills are essential, complemented by outstanding verbal and written communication abilities to effectively engage with clients and resolve conflicts diplomatically. Interpersonal skills are vital for nurturing relationships within the team and with customers, ensuring a collaborative and high‑performing environment.

Organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary to manage branch operations efficiently. Previous banking experience in a branch setting, particularly focused on sales, alongside branch leadership or management experience, further strengthens your candidacy. Proficiency in technology is critical, as you’ll need to navigate multiple computer programs while multitasking effectively.
