General Manager - Irrigation

Job Summary

The General Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing all business functions of the company’s operating location. He/She is responsible for achieving defined sales and profit goals and for ensuring all policies, procedures, and assignments are properly executed by all employees in the Schepers Lawn Sprinkling business unit. Responsibilities are performed with independent judgment with general direction from the President/VP Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as EOS Integrator
  • oLMA – all managers/leaders, ensure resources needed for success.
  • Guide weekly L10(s)
  • Set short term goals and manage overall execution.
  • Educate all leaders on 6 core functions, assist in new implementations.
  • Accountable for financial results of the business.
  • Review weekly/monthly scorecards and create action plans.
  • Ensure visibility and clear KPIs for all managers.
  • Safety – Own training compliance and results for all teams.
  • Manage office staff to include Accounting Clerk, CSR, Dispatch.
  • Service Titan leader – point for training, changes, etc.
  • Inventory Management
  • Fleet Management
  • IT – daily support with IT partner vendor.
  • Advertising campaigns – as needed with marketing.
  • Off season management – consistently look for opportunities.
  • Organize company events.
  • Problem solver for daily needs / identify efficiencies.
  • Develop SOPs and ensure team compliance.
  • Leadership – both with and without direct authority.

Education, Knowledge and Skills Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent industry experience.

  • Specific knowledge of irrigation and/or green space industry. (Preferred)
  • Excellent ability to effectively manage and supervise people.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate business processes.
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures.
  • Background clear of issues

  • Will need to be in Grand Rapids market to meet face to face with all direct reports, customers, suppliers, etc.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to hear and see well.
  • Ability to stand on your feet and bend for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work with hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment (with the appropriate training and personal protection equipment).
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) with appropriate PPE.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Schedule

Full-time 40 hours 1st shift 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
