Description
This position must be capable of performing the majority of required vehicle maintenance and repairs with minimal support from others. Works with the assistance of a Fleet Maintenance Technician (FMT) 3, Lead Fleet Maintenance Technician, Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, or Fleet Manager when performing highly technical or intricate diagnostic repairs. Task assignments are directed by shop management to encourage experience and skills development.
The FMT-2 technician works under minimal supervision, exercising judgment and discretion in resolving issues or making repairs.
Key roles include all technician tasks, including but not limited to:
- Interacting with drivers to determine the root cause of complaints.
- Performing preventive maintenance, facility maintenance duties, utilizing shop management systems and electronic systems, and complying with all safety, DOT, and corporate guidelines. Replacing defective components as instructed and supporting other duties as required.
- Diagnosing complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers, mentoring FMT-1 technicians, completing detailed inspections and repairs with minimal supervision, and accessing maintenance documents.
- Maintaining equipment to desired performance levels.
- Completing work orders promptly while maintaining high quality standards.
- Keeping management informed of safety, operator, and equipment observations and concerns.
- Performing prescribed preventative maintenance.
- Ensuring all paperwork is clear, legible, accurate, and complete with required information, in accordance with SOPs.
- Identifying process improvement opportunities with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Following Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
- Following all safety practices, including PPE use, confined space safety, chemical handling, and fall restraints.
- Responsible for food safety, prerequisite programs, and food quality in the designated area.
- Reporting food safety and quality issues immediately to management.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Compensation and Benefits:
- $30.29 per hour
- $6,000 Sign-on Bonus:
- $1,000 after 90 days
- $2,000 after 6 months
- $3,000 after 1 year
- Benefits available after 60 days
- 401K
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy and medium-duty equipment.
- Ability to perform basic math operations.
- Mechanic certifications and CDL-A preferred.
- Refrigeration license required.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach, and crawl for the entire shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist others when lifting.
- Manipulation of tools, equipment, and truck components required.
