Network Engineer (Cisco Route/Switch Deployment)

Onsite – Grand Rapids, MI

Part time – 15-20 hours per week

1 year engagement

CDW is seeking a mid-to-senior level Network Engineer with strong Cisco routing and switching experience to support a structured network staging and deployment initiative. This role is hands‑on and project‑based, requiring both physical infrastructure work and advanced IOS configuration expertise.

• Cisco routing and switching (Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer
  3)
• Strong Cisco IOS command-line configuration and troubleshooting

• Move, unbox, and inventory arriving network equipment
• Install mounting hardware, line cards, power supplies, SFPs, and management connections
• Perform cable management and stack configuration
• Power on equipment and validate hardware (DOA checks)
• Upgrade IOS and apply switch/port configurations using provided templates
• Support validation of physical and logical configurations with lead engineer
• Disassemble, re‑box, and prepare configured stacks for transport

• Transport equipment to deployment sites
• Remove legacy switches and associated patching
• Rack and install new switches and Stack Wise connections
• Power up devices and verify uplink connectivity
• Migrate patch cables according to port schedules
• Validate connectivity and perform troubleshooting as needed
• Document completed installations with photos and upload to shared repository

• Comfortable working both in staging environments and live site deployments
• Detail-oriented with experience following structured deployment standards
• Able to work independently while collaborating with engineering leads
