IT Project Manager

Warner Norcross + Judd is seeking an IT Project Manager to join our Information Technology team in Grand Rapids.

The IT Project Manager will oversee the evaluation, selection, and implementation of technology solutions that enhance the Firm's operations. This role will collaborate closely with firm departments and legal support teams to ensure technology initiatives align with business goals. The ideal candidate will have strong project management experience, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of enterprise software and implementation best practices in a professional services environment.

the Opportunity Responsibilities
  • Partner with firm departments and practice groups (HR, Talent Development, Accounting, etc.) to assess business needs and identify appropriate software solutions.
  • Lead software selection processes, including requirements gathering, vendor evaluation, and contract review in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Manage the planning, scheduling, and execution of technology implementation projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with vendors, internal IT staff, and firm leaders to design and implement system integrations and data migration.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project documentation, including timelines, budgets, risk assessments, and communication plans.
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) and post-implementation review processes.
  • Oversee change management and training plans to support successful adoption of new/upgraded systems.
  • Provide regular project updates to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure all projects comply with the Firm's security, compliance, and confidentiality standards.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in legal operations, enterprise software, and project management.
  • Assist with other IT projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Strong communication skills, both technical and non-technical, including the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills with a structured approach to project execution.
  • Thorough understanding of one or more project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, Lean) and the ability to apply them appropriately.
  • Technical understanding of hardware, software, networking, and security fundamentals sufficient to oversee diverse IT projects.
  • Proven critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and management skills, with the ability to anticipate risks and drive solutions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana), and enterprise applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in software selection, implementation, and integration projects.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and vendor coordination capabilities.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects.
  • Familiarity with data security, compliance, and privacy standards in a law firm or professional services context preferred.
Experience, Education & Training
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience managing technology projects, preferably within a law firm or professional services organization.
  • Experience leading system selection and implementation initiatives, including "HRIS", accounting, or learning management system.
  • PMP certification and/or other project-related certifications strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across departments.
