Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108-bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan and fully accredited by The Joint Commission. With more than 45 years of experience, we evaluate, diagnose and treat a wide range of behavioral health problems.

Responsibilities

The Human Resources Generalist supports the HR Director in achieving facility and department goals and objectives by providing professional level assistance in recruitment, employee relations, retention strategies, performance management, and regulatory compliance. This role helps maintain departmental compliance with facility, legal and regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for full-cycle recruitment for assigned positions: posting, sourcing, interview & selection, hiring and onboarding.
  • Prepare and process HR-related documentation, including offer letters, status changes and termination paperwork.
  • Connect with local educational programs and community resources to source candidates and create partnerships; assist with job fairs and events.
  • Coordinate and prepare for New Hire Orientation, staff onboarding requirements and maintenance of staff education requirements while meeting facility and regulatory obligations.
  • Use HRIS systems to enter data, write reports, manage employee records and ensure timely updates in personnel files; generate and distribute routine HR reports.
  • Assist with engagement and retention programs, including the onboarding program for the behavioral health facilities; actively participate in employee engagement activities.
  • Perform HR file audits to ensure regulatory compliance (including non‑employed staff and contractor files).
  • Respond to insurance and unemployment compensation correspondence and employment verifications as assigned.
  • Under guidance of the HR Director, conduct internal investigations as assigned.
  • Under guidance of the HR Director, support facility management with disciplinary actions, improvement plans and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct exit interviews as assigned and assist with reporting on exit interview data.
  • Provide administrative support for HR operations, including document preparation, record maintenance, reporting, compliance tracking and coordination of HR projects and initiatives as assigned by HR leadership.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Previous HR experience required
  • Previous related healthcare experience preferred
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP or SHRM‑SCP preferred
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local HR/employment laws and regulations
  • Compliance with administrative agencies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Effective communication skills, problem‑solving and conflict resolution skills
