Overview

Recreational Therapist Per Diem at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services. Pine Rest believes in healing and expert care for mental health and substance use disorders across Michigan. What Will You Do?

As an Activity Therapist at Pine Rest, you’ll be part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. You’ll use clinical skills in recreation or occupational therapies, expressive arts therapies, and psycho-educational interventions to plan, organize and implement educational programming. You will assess patients’ capabilities, needs, interests, and goals, and engage patients in group-based programming aligned with the team’s goals. Principal

Duties And Responsibilities

Complete individualized patient assessment within the first 72 hours of admission; plan, implement, and facilitate Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Informed (DBT-I) and psycho educational programming; document patient interactions; participate in and communicate about interdisciplinary treatment planning. Identify project and process improvements in coordination with unit and departmental goals.

What Does This Role Require?
  • Bachelor’s in Recreational Therapy
  • Registered as a therapist or certification as a CTRS
  • Minimum of three months of relevant psychiatric/medical/clinical experience to gain entry-level abilities in planning and implementing therapeutic activities
  • Knowledge of current therapy principles in area of expertise, therapeutic expressive arts activities, recreation or occupational therapies, psycho-educational interventions and group counseling techniques, typically acquired through degree and clinical training
