Join the Team:
Patient Service Representative I – Urologic Consultants.
Location:
25 Michigan St. NE, Suite 3300, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Job Type: Full-time.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:45 PM. No nights, no weekends, and no on-call.
- You Are The First Person Our Patients See And The Last Person They Talk To Before They Leave. Your mission includes welcoming every patient and visitor with a warm greeting and registering them quickly and accurately.
- Collecting co-payments, updating insurance information (HMO, PPO, Medicare), and scanning essential records into the system.
- Answering phones, scheduling follow-up appointments, and coordinating with medical staff to maintain smooth patient flow.
- Scanning documents, distributing incoming faxes, ordering office supplies, and ensuring the front desk area is organized and stocked.
- At least 2 to 3 years of customer service experience; prior medical office experience is preferred.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent); comfortable with computers and learning EMR systems.
- Punctual, dependable, able to stay calm under pressure, and capable of greeting patients at the desk while handling questions.
- Basic understanding of health insurance and medical terminology.

- Proficient with computer programs including Microsoft Office; knowledge of healthcare systems and EMRs.
- Ability to answer multiple incoming calls and demonstrate excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking in stressful situations.
- Customer-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work independently and manage deadlines.
- Understanding of CPT/ICD-10 terminology and basic health insurance knowledge; ability to navigate online health insurance portals to verify benefits.
- Compliance with confidentiality standards and familiarity with HIPAA, OSHA, CMS guidelines where applicable.
- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; some college work preferred. - Experience:
Minimum 1-3 years of customer service; medical office experience (urology preferred); CPT/ICD-10 knowledge preferred.
- Approximately 1-25 lbs lifting and carrying; frequent for 34% to 66% of the time; occasional 26-50 lbs as needed.
- Push/Pull and lifting activities within light to moderate ranges; and floor-to-chest lifting up to 25 lbs occasionally.
