Care Aide

Overview

Valley Pines Senior Living is hiring a Care Aide for full-time, 2nd Shift.

Location:

6117 Charlevoix Woods Ct SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.

• Provide support in all areas of daily living as needed by individuals, including assisting with transfers and mobility support.
• Support individuals in achieving the best quality of life by adhering to the residents’ support plans.
• Advocate for residents in areas of needs and wants when assistance is requested or required.
• Assist individuals in developing new relationships and supporting existing relationships.
• Interact and communicate in a respectful manner toward all individuals.
• Create a safe environment and conduct activities that promote health and safety of individuals.
• Develop and use effective communication with everyone in a style suited to the individual.
• Communicate positively and productively with co-workers, families/guardians and the public.
• Provide a positive role model for individuals and co-workers.
• Support co-workers and actively participate in team processes.
• Provide complete, accurate and timely documentation.
• Perform tasks that contribute to the day-to-day operation of the home (e.g., cooking, cleaning, laundry).
• Follow Cardinal AFC Policies and Procedures and those of regulatory bodies (CMH, AAA, Reliance, AFC Licensing, Recipient Rights, etc.).
• Maintain the home in a safe manner; report any safety or maintenance issues.
• Perform other duties as requested by supervisory staff.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old prior to first day of employment or transfer into position.
• Current First Aid and CPR/AED Certification, or willingness to be trained during employment.

• Ability to assist residents with mobility, including lifting and wheelchair transfers.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Ability to walk, bend frequently, and sit occasionally.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally (1-33% of workday).
• Ability to complete and maintain documentation regarding a resident’s status.

• Valid Driver’s License or State .
• One year of experience in the long-term care industry.
