Behavioral Technician, Neurodevelopmental Disorders Unit

Position open for all shifts. Full Time and Part Time set schedules available. Every other weekend is required.

What Will You Do?

As a Psychiatric Technician Level 1 at Pine Rest, you’ll be part of a tight-knit team that believes in the healing power of your expertise and compassion. Under general supervision and according to departmental policies and procedures and within the individual plan of care, you perform physical and emotional care for clients with mental illness and/or developmental delays. You actively participate in safety management, milieu management, crisis intervention and prevention.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provides a safe and secure environment for persons served and staff in both individual and group settings.
  • Collaborates in day-to-day planning/development of person served programming and implementation of programs.
  • May assist persons served with personal care such as bathing, shaving, washing hands, styling hair, using the bathroom, dressing, etc.
  • Actively participate in safety management, crisis intervention and prevention, including monitoring, assessment, de-escalation, and emergency psychiatric and medical care.
  • Survey, document, and report safety repair and maintenance needs.
  • May perform household duties (cleaning, cooking, laundry) and drive escorts to community outings and appointments.
  • Documents progress notes, medication administration, and other relevant information; report immediate concerns per policies.
  • Monitor for and report any potential safety risks to staff responsible for persons served.
  • May perform random and scheduled drug testing and conduct searches as required.
  • Completes reports and paperwork as needed.
  • Assist in teaching persons served and their families, including social skills, daily living skills, and behavioral coping techniques.
  • Model the organization’s mission and values; provide spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to persons served.
  • May assist in treatment plans and goals of persons served.
  • May perform basic office duties (answering phones, filing, scanning, uploading, using Microsoft Word).
  • Assist in training new staff.
  • Support and promote a recovery-focused, person-centered environment within the program.
  • In Hospital and Residential services, model the organization’s mission and values and maintain professional appearance, time management, and communication; provide holistic support to persons served.
  • Obtain knowledge of medications required by the position.
What Does the Role Require?

Education/Experience
  • Completion of a minimum of six months post-high school education in behavioral sciences or equivalent is preferred.
  • CNA certification or one to two years of college education is preferred.

Note: While this position is advertised as 'Behavioral Technician' for recruitment purposes, the official job title at Pine Rest will be Psychiatric Technician. If you have questions about how your background aligns, we encourage you to apply!

Work Schedule

This position is onsite and may require weekend and holiday hours.
