A Day in the Life of a Respiratory Therapist(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)./respiratory therapy
Scope of WorkAssist in administering routine respiratory care services; responsible for the performance of respiratory procedures commonly used in assigned areas; work under general supervision of a licensed respiratory care practitioner. Actual duties and responsibilities will vary depending on the patient unit assigned; provide excellent health care to all clients in Lakeland throughout their developmental life cycle.
- Deliver respiratory procedures as prescribed by physicians, under the direct supervision of a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner.
- Document all pertinent information on respiratory care rendered according to policy.
- Ensure patent airway and adequate ventilation during cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Set up, operate, and monitor respiratory monitoring equipment under direct supervision.
- Process respiratory equipment for sterilization and provide necessary preventive maintenance.
- Contribute to effective communication needs of the patient care team. Commit to continuous improvement of patient experience, including safety, quality of care and excellent service.
- Maintain commitment to professional growth and competency. Adhere to the organization’s published values.
- Contribute to the productivity of the department and proper coverage as assigned by management, i.e. facility assignment, unit assignment, schedule call, etc.
- Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent. - Currently enrolled in an accredited respiratory therapy program pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy. May be a recent graduate having earned an associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited program. (Required)
- Respiratory Therapy student who has completed at least 1 year in an accredited respiratory therapy program. (Preferred)
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA American Heart Association upon hire required.
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – ARC American Red Cross upon hire required.
