The Kent County Health Department is seeking qualified Medical Assistant candidates to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to provide WIC and Immunization Program services within the Community Clinical Services Division. Duties include performing routine clinical procedures and providing general clerical support by verifying eligibility for the program services, scheduling appointments, registering clients, collecting and recording anthropometrics, capillary and venous blood samples, and data entry.

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, no weekends, nights, or holidays. Will be required to work from 10 am to 7 pm on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month.

This position is eligible for a referral bonus

  • High school graduate or equivalent and successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program and Certification as a Medical Assistant by AAMA or registered as a Medical Assistant by the AMT.
  • State of Michigan Certification as a Medical Assistant desired.
  • Working knowledge of routine clinical procedures and experience in venipuncture and specimen collection required.
  • Experience working with maternal, infant, and child populations is desired.
  • Computer literacy, including working knowledge of word‑processing, spreadsheet, and database management, is required.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to be highly efficient while ensuring attention to detail is required.
  • Must interact positively and professionally with internal and external customers, and members of the general public from widely divergent cultural and socio‑economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to provide client service from a culturally aware and client‑driven perspective and deliver excellent customer service to all clients while following HIPAA guidelines is essential.
  • Must be able to provide services to clients in a variety of County locations and possess a valid, unrestricted Michigan driver’s license, and have access to regular transportation.
