About The Unit

The ACE unit/1D (Acute Care of the Elderly) is a 21‑bed Med/Surg unit at Blodgett Hospital focused on medical patients over 65. Nurses are drawn to 1D by their passion for geriatric care and competence across diverse diagnoses such as Congestive Heart Failure, COPD, Septic Shock, Acute Kidney Injury, Delirium, and many more. Teamwork is vital; the staff communicate soundly with the whole care team.

Set within a quiet, beautifully maintained property of mature trees and healing gardens, Blodgett Hospital has earned a reputation for excellence since 1846. It offers patient‑focused inpatient care in 248 private patient rooms and outpatient services for medical, surgical and specialty care, achieving high rates of patient satisfaction.

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance, including ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health, striving to achieve optimal outcomes.

• Associates in Nursing Required
• Bachelor’s in Nursing Required within 5 years
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
