A rapidly growing wellness company in Grand Rapids, Michigan is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their Accounting team. The Assistant Controller supports the Corporate Controller in managing the organization’s accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial records, timely close processes, and adherence to accounting standards while helping improve processes and systems.

• Owns the month-end financial close process
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Maintain and enforce internal controls and accounting policies
• Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Assist with external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting
• Review balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy
• Support cash management, bank reconciliations, and working capital analysis
• Help implement and improve accounting systems, processes, and controls
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff
• Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, operations, and leadership

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
• 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience working within a manufacturing industry is preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• ERP experience (MS Dynamics 365 is a plus)
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
