Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee and enhance financial operations within our organization in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role involves maintaining accurate financial documentation, managing fixed asset activities, and ensuring compliance with property tax regulations. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in improving processes, analyzing financial data, and supporting cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities:

- Streamline financial processes to improve efficiency and foster collaboration among teams.

- Ensure the accuracy, security, and completeness of all financial documentation.

- Manage fixed asset activities, including acquisitions, adjustments, depreciation, transfers, and retirements.

- Conduct research and prepare journal entries related to fixed assets.

- Lead comprehensive audits of fixed asset inventories.

- Prepare annual budgets and manage return-on-investment documentation for projects.

- Handle property tax compliance, including preparing returns, requesting payments, and maintaining records.

- Participate actively in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.

- Analyze key financial metrics, including inventory, costs, expenses, and labor data.

- Reconcile general ledger accounts and verify journal transactions to ensure accuracy. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.

- A minimum of five years of accounting experience.

- Strong expertise in cost accounting and margin analysis.

- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and management practices.

- Proficiency in handling month-end close processes and general ledger activities.

- Experience with journal entries and account reconciliation.

- Familiarity with fixed assets management, including Cap Ex.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including finance and IT.
