As Tax Manager you would have the opportunity to receive 10% of year‑one cash collections and 6% of year‑two collections for successful new business.

We are seeking a Tax Manager to join our Grand Rapids, MI office. The Tax Manager will oversee the compliance process for federal and state individual, partnership, C‑corporation, S‑corporation, and trust tax returns, identify and resolve ancillary tax issues such as SALT and international matters, and provide tax planning and research support. You will lead the team, mentor staff, and build strong client relationships.

• Perform extensive tax research on complex tax issues.
• Manage engagement team members to ensure timely completion of tasks and serve as a resource.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to staff, supporting development of technical skills.
• Maintain timely and accurate communication with team and clients to manage expectations, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Build strong client relationships and ensure client needs are met.
• Demonstrate advanced technical aptitude in taxation and handle complex returns and projects with confidence.
• Lead preparation of complex tax returns, including individuals, C‑Corps, S‑Corporations, partnerships, trust, estate, etc., across a variety of industries.
• Review associates’ work on individual and corporate federal and state income tax returns.
• Utilize analytical and decision‑making skills to solve complex technical issues.
• Train new employees on firm technology, processes, and procedures.
• Seek opportunities to participate in practice development and build a network of referral sources.
• Present new ideas and improvements to enhance task performance and achieve firm goals.

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting/Taxation.
• CPA licensed.
• 5+ years tax experience in a public accounting firm; at least 1 year in a Manager role preferred.
• Strong analytical, research, and critical‑thinking skills.
• Ability to make and support decisions regarding accounting and tax matters.
• Ability to perform and direct multiple engagements.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Ability to mentor, lead, and train people and adapt to different learning styles.
• Extensive knowledge of S‑Corp and partnership returns.
• Experience with CCH Axcess software helpful.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Highly motivated, self‑starter with ability to multitask.
