Key Responsibilities

There’s no average day for a Sales and Use Tax Senior. You’ll likely spend your time on a diverse array of projects, responsibilities and tasks. Clients turn to you for up‑to‑the‑minute tax advice they can always rely on. To make that happen, you’ll work in a highly collaborative culture, where listening to and sharing information with colleagues is essential.

Skills and Attributes for Success
  • Analyzing an evolving portfolio of complex tax operations to provide meaningful business insights
  • Identifying potential opportunities and risks and communicating these to clients
  • Learning and researching current market trends to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor
  • Developing clear, intelligent plans and approaches to improve clients’ tax activities
  • Researching clients’ business operations and building long‑lasting relationships to tailor advice to their specific needs
  • Supervising a motivated team of professionals, guaranteeing they have the skills, knowledge and opportunities to reach their full potential
To Qualify for the Role
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline
  • Professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts and tools
  • A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization
  • Technical writing and research experience in a tax context
  • The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects
  • Strong influencing skills and the confidence to question existing processes
  • Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
  • An achieved or partially achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or the ability to sit for a state bar

What We Offer
  • Comprehensive compensation and benefits, with a base salary range for this role in the US of $81,700 to $135,000. Geographic ranges may vary. Total Rewards include medical, dental, pension, 401(k) and a wide range of paid time off.
  • Flexible hybrid model: most client‑service roles work together in person 40–60% of the time during an engagement.
  • Flexible vacation policy: you decide how much vacation time you need based on your circumstances, with additional time for EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care and other leaves.
