Position Overview

The Service Manager is a non–field-based leadership role responsible for overseeing all operational, customer-facing, and business development functions of the Plumbing and HVAC Service Department. This position ensures exceptional service delivery, supports field technicians with technical guidance, drives departmental growth, and maintains strong customer and vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service & Technician Management
    • Oversee and support field technicians, providing technical insight and guidance on complex issues.
    • Ensure a consistently high level of service delivery across all projects.
    • Monitor service jobs to ensure timely completion and workflow efficiency.
    • Participate in staff training, professional development, and skill enhancement.
    • Maintain adherence to local and state building codes through periodic jobsite inspections (no field labor required).
    • Support performance management, including reviews, coaching, and corrective action when needed.
  • Customer Care & Quality Assurance
    • Communicate directly with customers regarding proposals, quotes, concerns, and complaint resolution.
    • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and ensure smooth service execution.
    • Review overall project outcomes, reporting successes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Business Development
    • Develop and implement growth strategies to expand market presence and revenue streams.
    • Manage and maintain relationships with existing clients while actively pursuing new business opportunities.
    • Understand products, services, and company value proposition in depth to effectively align client needs.
    • Identify and map business strengths, customer needs, and opportunities for strategic advantage.
    • Conduct research on market conditions, competition, and industry trends at the local and national level.
    • Draft and review contracts to ensure compliance and alignment with company objectives.
    • Capture and track all business opportunities within the assigned market area.
    • Maintain full knowledge of competitive landscape to support strategic decision-making.
  • Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination
    • Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the company receives optimal pricing, service quality, and support.
    • Maintain productive professional relationships to enhance overall service efficiency and value.
