Job Description

As an Engineering Technician, you will work closely with engineers, conducting a variety of tests on packaging products to ensure their durability during shipping. You will be trained on several specific tests and will manage the product testing process from start to finish.

Responsibilities

+ Receive direction from engineers and manage day-to-day testing activities.

+ Learn and conduct approximately six different tests independently.

+ Manage incoming products and perform tests based on work orders.

+ Set up tests, execute them, and report data back to the engineers.

+ Conduct primary testing on packaging products using equipment such as shaking tables, drop testers, slam tables, edge crushers, and static weight loading devices.

+ Test various products, such as skids of mulch, rocks, and topsoil, to minimize shipping losses.

+ Assist in setting up tests or building furniture for testing purposes.

Essential Skills

+ Mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and follow test procedures.

+ 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or testing lab.

+ Proficiency with hand and power tools, including skill saws and power drills.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in package, vibration, or furniture testing.

+ Associates or Bachelors degree in Engineering.

Work Environment

Work hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM in a test lab environment. The role offers hands-on experience in testing, working alongside an engineering team. Benefits include billed back sick leave and six holidays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kentwood, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
