Summary:

The sustaining engineer maintains and improves released products by troubleshooting issues, providing root cause analysis, reducing costs, improving efficiency, managing engineering change notices, and handling component obsolescence with a focus on long-term product health, reliability, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will manage design changes, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing and other support teams. They will supplytechnical review and direction for existing designs and suggest potential design changes to improve customer outcomes for internal and external customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

• Technical liaison between Product Engineering and Manufacturing, Quality and Purchasing departments for various rotating pumps (Vane, Gear and Centrifugal) and reciprocating compressors trouble shooting technical issues, process control improvements, supply issues and support of new purchasing initiatives (regional and global).

• Process and approve manufactured and purchased parts deviation forms.

• Design changes:
  Implement engineering change notices for fixes, improvements, or cost reductions managing Bills of Materials (BOMs). Guide regional and global engineering team members to complete engineering change work.

• Create and manage Bills of Material (BOMs) and component part data in the Oracle ERP system.

• Handle component obsolescence with a focus on long-term product health, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

• Guide and mentor designers (USA and global sites) in best practices and project requirements for product improvements.

• Manage the Solid Works PDM database for updates in accessibility state of CAD files for the CAD designers.

• Support CAD designers of engineered special products orders (ESORs) by providing technical assistance and performing final evaluation of bills of materials and drawings.
