Sr. Manager, R&D Engineering

Dematic is looking for an Engineering Manager for the Product Development (PD) group of Intelligent Automated Solutions, Americas Region. At Dematic, we develop mechatronic products and subsystems used in our warehouse automation solutions globally. This Senior Engineering Manager leads a team of Product Development Engineers providing sustaining support of commercialized products.

This CPS (Commercialized Product Sustaining) support includes evaluating requests for changes to components, materials, processes, to satisfy changing customer and compliance needs while ensuring integrity of the product design. The CPS group is also called upon to answer application questions and assist project teams in troubleshooting issues with existing products at current customers for products used within the Americas Region. The team may also support Dematic project team Engineering Design Requests (EDRs) to develop customer specific solutions to solve unique customer needs.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $142,400 - $178,000 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

• Lead, manage and coach a team of Development Engineers to deliver cost effective, reliable material handling products to meet requirements for the internal and external business customers including ease of manufacture, installation, and serviceability.
• Participate in the development and implementation of strategic and tactical plans to achieve on-time delivery of products through resource management including interns and outside contractors as needed and approved.
• Build international partnerships to extend consistent standards during a period of growth and future stability.
• Create and maintain a feedback loop for customers at all levels to ensure day to day job tasks are meeting expectations.
• Drive continuous improvement and lean initiatives.
• Maintain culture and external team partnerships across all levels of Dematic to bring team visibility and team engagement.
• Run engineering groups in the region to function as first line of Dematic R&D Engineering regional project support for technologies developed in other DEM regions.

• Ensure that products are executed by their teams are on schedule and on budget while meeting requirements and quality targets.
• Weekly touch points and monthly evaluation and reporting of product status
• Accurate monthly forecasting

• Identify skills gap assessment, appropriate skills assignment, and make plans to close knowledge gaps.
• Maintain safety & compliance standards and communication.
• Proactively drive capacity planning through innovative demand sourcing
• Issue resolution or conflict resolution; escalations with appropriate level of context and detail along with recommended actions when appropriate.
• Ensuring products comply with changing environmental, safety and governmental requirements of each region product is applied within by Dematic, while finding the most practical, cost-effective ways of doing so.
