AECOM is seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader / Engineer II at the Grand Rapids, Michigan office to perform routine, in‑depth, and fracture‑critical inspections. Inspections may include use of snooper trucks, bucket trucks, boats, and/or man lifts. Inspections will require in‑state and out‑of‑state travel.

This opportunity can include bridge design and construction work and the ability to complete design‑related tasks with a clear understanding of Michigan DOT, regional and municipal standards is applicable to the responsibilities of this position.

Job duties and responsibilities
  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well‑defined procedures.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BA/BS + 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid Drivers license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years' experience of bridge inspection and/or bridge design experience
  • PE highly preferred
  • Certified Bridge Inspector/Team Leader status in at least 1 state
  • AASHTOWare Bridge Rating (BrR) experience
  • FHWA-NHI-130055 or 130056 Safety Inspection of In‑Service Bridges Certification
  • FHWA-NHI-130078 NSTM Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges Certification
  • FHWA-NHI-130110 Tunnel Safety Inspection Certification
  • Experience operating snooper trucks, bucket trucks, and man lifts
