Machine Design Engineer
Essential Skills- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), or associate degree with relevant experience.
- 5‑10 years of experience in machine design.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Solid Works or Inventor.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) expertise.
- Experience with hydraulics or pneumatics.
- Knowledge of custom automation equipment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in automation equipment for the automotive industry.
- Bill of Materials creation.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Engineering or a Master's degree.
- Solid Works proficiency.
The Machine Design Engineer will focus on designing custom automated equipment, primarily for the automotive industry. The role involves utilizing FEA, GD&T, and 3D CAD to work with customers in concepting, designing, and testing complex machines. The engineer will engage with both mechanical and electrical equipment, including gearboxes, electric motors, and load cells. Additionally, they will support the manufacturing and assembly phases of multiple projects, ensuring timelines are met and making necessary design changes.
Responsibilities- Design custom automated equipment for the automotive industry using FEA, GD&T, and 3D CAD.
- Collaborate with customers to develop concepts and test complex machines.
- Work with mechanical and electrical components such as gearboxes, electric motors, and load cells.
- Support manufacturing and assembly processes to ensure project timelines are adhered to.
- Implement necessary design changes during the manufacturing phase.
- Research, quote, and select components for automated equipment.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43.00 - $50.00/hr.
