Transmission Line Project Manager

HDR is a leading design‑build engineering firm committed to diversity and inclusion. We are hiring a Transmission Line Project Manager to oversee large‑scale transmission line projects across Michigan and beyond.

• Manage and lead transmission projects through the entire life cycle – from scope, proposal, and team development to execution, closeout, quality control, scheduling and budgeting.
• Lead QA/QC processes following HDR’s Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Oversee non‑engineering aspects of projects, including public involvement, environmental permitting, right‑of‑way acquisition, construction management, and related services.
• Leverage internal staff and resources to deliver world‑class services to clients in the Michigan region.
• Provide client management, project management, staff mentorship, and technical support.
• Participate in business‑development activities with existing and target clients in the region.

• Experience and client relationships in Michigan.
• Experience managing and supervising staff.
• Distribution line design experience.
• PE license or ability to obtain a Michigan PE within 6 months.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or ability to obtain it within 6 months; experience with project‑management tools such as MSProject.
• Experience with transmission line planning, routing, permitting, and right‑of‑way acquisition.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of project‑management experience.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills across design teams.

Ann Arbor, MI (primary). Additionally, projects may be based in Grand Rapids, MI.
