POSITION TITLE:
Preschool Assistant Teacher(s) for 26–27 school year
CONTRACT: 1.0 FTE
REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL
COORDINATES WITH: 1st Grade Professional Learning Team, Academic Program Coordinator, Student Support Team, Director of Nature-rich Learning
POSITION SUMMARYThe 1st-grade teacher works with the Rockford Christian professional learning community to teach from a Christian perspective, ensuring that all students are prepared to be effective servants of Christ in contemporary society. The teacher also guides students in mastering grade-level content standards while fostering spiritual, social, and academic growth.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES- Teach from a Christian perspective in alignment with GRCS statement of faith
- Grow in expertise of content area and pedagogy through ongoing professional development
- Collaborate with professional learning team (PLT) to identify essential standards, create common assessments, and analyze assessment data to ensure that all students learn at a high level
- Collaborate with student support services to meet individual student needs within a multi-tiered system of support
- Plan and deliver instruction aligned to essential standards
- Integrate nature-rich learning experiences into core content areas
- Manage a classroom by providing clear expectations, positive reinforcement, and restorative practices
- Give timely feedback to students and assign timely grades that represent accurate levels of learning
- Communicate with parents regularly to share student celebrations and concerns
- State of Michigan Certified Elementary Teacher
- Experience in a lower elementary setting preferred
