Instructional Aide – Math

Core Responsibilities
- Helps the classroom teacher prepare and distribute lesson materials.
- Instructs students under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
- Assists in maintaining individual student records when asked.
- Maintains an orderly, clean classroom to provide conducive learning areas.
- Uses resources effectively to support learning activities in the classroom, the Academy and the community.
- Demonstrates exceptional classroom techniques.
- Works cooperatively with parents and generates guardians’ confidence.
- Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with peers.
- Displays personal qualities that reflect favorably upon the Academy.
- Carries out other duties assigned by the principal and/or Choice Schools Associates.
Essential Skills and Competencies
Minimum Requirements
- Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours); or obtain an associate’s degree (or higher); or meet rigorous assessment standards.
- Knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics.
- Ability to communicate with students, staff and guardians professionally.
- Excellent verbal and written expression with proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Exemplary work habits verified by previous employers.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Desired Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or valid state of Michigan Teaching Certificate.
- Knowledge and skills working with at‑risk students.
- Experience in an educational setting with school‑age children.
