Position Title Structured Learning Assistant (SLA) Facilitator

Employee Group Hourly

Division/Department Teaching/Learning Center

Status Part‑time, semester by semester appointment, $13.65 hourly.

Position Summary Information

Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions

The successful candidate must demonstrate experience, skills, and commitment to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion in student, faculty and staff.

  • Provide academic assistance to developmental students in content area (math or English) by attending class meetings of the selected course and facilitating student learning in weekly workshops.
  • Model successful student behaviors and provide experiences that assist learning.
  • Help students with study skills, preparations for tests, time management, methods of inquiry, and strategies for learning course content and vocabulary.
  • Take attendance and accurately collect, maintain, and deliver data such as surveys and contact sheets in a timely manner.
  • Meet regularly with the instructor for planning and feedback.
  • Meet with TLC Manager as needed.

* Fall, Winter and Spring semester hours vary.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum Technology Skills
  • Associate Degree in a related field with at least one year of tutoring or teaching experience.
  • Proficiency in course content (math or writing).
  • Working knowledge of skills being taught in the class.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
Additional /

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • One or more years of related work experience tutoring or teaching Developmental Math and/or English.
