Physician - Section Chief, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry - Helen DeVos Children  Hospital, Grand Rapids, MI.

Helen DeVos Children  Hospital (HDVCH) offers an opportunity for a full-time BC/BE Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to lead as Section Chief. The section chief reports to the system division chief of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health, leads psychiatrists and APPs in inpatient and outpatient roles, maintains a clinical practice, and has dedicated time to lead the team, partner with the operational manager, and collaborate with the section chief of pediatric psychology.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in a children  hospital system; candidates with 1+ year will be considered.

The HDVCH multidisciplinary team includes child psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, pediatric psychologists, and behavioral medicine physicians, among others. The patient population is served through consult-liaison services, outpatient consult bridge clinic, outpatient practice, and our autism center of excellence. The hospital opened a 12-bed pediatric medical psychiatric unit in summer 2024.

We offer 90-minute evaluations and 30-minute outpatient follow-ups with psychology, psychotherapy, and nursing support. The position can support an H1B visa candidate. As the prime pediatric clinical academic partner of Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, HDVCH offers teaching opportunities and academic appointments for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

Required

• BC/BE Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
• License - Michigan, MD/DO
• Certification - BLS

Experience and leadership

• 1 year of relevant experience; 1+ year to 3 years in clinical practice, preferably in a medical group setting
• Experience in leading project teams and a commitment to develop as a physician leader

Licensure and certification

• LIC-Physician (MD) -  State of Michigan Upon Hire
• LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) -  State of Michigan Upon Hire
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA 90 Days
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC 90 Days
• CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA If required by specialty or stress test performed, 120 Days
