The Division Chief of Pediatric Neurology in conjunction with the Division Chief of Neurosurgery will be responsible for the comprehensive operations of the Division of Neurosciences so that, as a whole, the division supports the mission of the Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital including clinical services, education, research, other scholarly activity, and advocacy.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Department Chief of pediatrics, the new Division Chief of Pediatric Neurology, will be expected to:
Foster an atmosphere conducive to excellence in clinical care, faculty development, education, and clinical research.
Develop effective strategic plans to expand and strengthen pediatric neurosciences center core clinical programs.
Deliver consistently excellent access and services for every patient every time, expand strategic local and regional community partnerships.
Create more capacity for tertiary and qua ternary care, and continue to strengthen teaching and research programs.
Oversee and allocate duties of clinical staff to provide outstanding value-based care to pediatric neurology and neuropsychology patients. Standard responsibilities include: (a) Determine and manage coverage of clinical care for the clinics and existing clinical programs; (b) Assign or delegate equitable coverage of weekend and evening call responsibilities; (c) Ensure outstanding family-centered care in all settings and (d) Develop and implement additional clinical programs to meet the needs of the patient population.
Develop and expand neurosciences multidisciplinary and complex care clinics.
Develop a system-wide pediatric neurology and neuropsychology center financial and quality outcomes dashboard to effectively track volumes, payor mix, profit margin, and market share as well as quality, safety, and service excellence metrics so that continuous performance improvement strategies are implemented in real-time.
Develop standard guidelines/interventions, decrease variation in practices, avoid unnecessary testing, track cost per episode of care, and develop collaborative population health and payor models to provide the highest value and safest care at the lowest cost with the best quality outcomes in many neurosurgery disorders.
Develop an external and internal community marketing and outreach strategic plans to raise brand awareness and establish referral networks so that patients and providers are aware of the high-quality neurosurgery care delivered in the pediatric neurosciences center. Maintaining and exceeding Likelihood to Recommend (LTR) expectations. Maintaining and exceeding patient experiences in clinic, inpatient and EMU.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Candidates who are board certified in pediatric neurology. A track record of professional leadership role(s) is required. Demonstrated experience in mentorship. Demonstrated ability to develop and build innovative programs. Research experience is desired. Candidates with special interests in epilepsy, movement disorders and neuromuscular disorders are encouraged to apply. Candidates must be eligible for licensure in the State of Michigan.
