Sr. Interior Designer Job Description

As a Senior Interior Designer, you will lead and guide the interior design process on projects through multiple phases, including programming, schematic design, construction documentation, and construction administration. You will be tasked with developing client-centered design concepts, focusing specifically on finishes, detailing, millwork, lighting, and other areas that comprise the interior environment. Your role will involve creating excellent graphics and presentation materials using Sketch Up, Revit, and/or InDesign to effectively communicate design concepts.

You will also present ideas, resolve issues, and communicate project status to clients, interface with consultants and vendors, and source and provide quality material options.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the interior design process from start to finish on projects.
  • Develop technical documentation with a focus on finishes, detailing, millwork, and lighting.
  • Create presentation materials and graphics using Sketch Up, Revit, and/or InDesign.
  • Present ideas and resolve issues while communicating project status to clients.
  • Interface with consultants and vendors, sourcing quality material options.
  • Develop furniture layouts, budgets, and documents for bid.
  • Document interior finishes, millwork, and interior architecture using Revit.
  • Conduct site visits for field measurements and review construction progress.
  • Ensure deliverables meet internal and external project requirements.
  • Mentor interior designers and architects on interior design intricacies.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in Revit, Sketch Up, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • 8-10 years of experience in Interior Design across High-End Residential, K-12/Higher Education, and Workplace sectors.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design.
  • NCIDQ Certification.

  • Experience in creating client-centered design concepts.
  • Ability to create excellent graphics and presentation materials.
  • Strong communication skills for interfacing with clients, consultants, and vendors.
Work Environment

The position is located in a building in downtown Grand Rapids, which spans two floors. One floor houses the production team and studio leads, while the other floor is dedicated to HR and event hosting. The work schedule includes in-office work from Monday to Thursday, with a remote-first arrangement on Fridays unless otherwise specified.
