We are seeking a Landscape Architect / Designer with a minimum of three years of professional experience. This individual will play a key role in guiding projects from early site-planning concepts through final completion. The position offers exposure to a wide range of project types, including custom residential environments, educational campuses, workplace settings, healthcare facilities, and other unique design opportunities.
Responsibilities- Design Development:
Partner with team members to craft thoughtful site design strategies across a wide mix of project types—ranging from master-planned environments and public parks to plazas, streetscapes, athletic venues, sustainable systems, and private outdoor spaces. - Project Coordination:
Support the organization of project schedules, budgets, and deliverables. Communicate regularly with clients, consultants, and contractors to help ensure project expectations and objectives are met. - Site Planning & Evaluation:
Perform site research, evaluations, and feasibility reviews, including the analysis of zoning requirements and municipal regulations. Prepare design drawings such as site layouts, grading plans, planting plans, and other technical documents. - Technical Documentation:
Develop detailed construction drawings and supporting documentation, including specifications and material selections. Work closely with civil engineering partners to refine grading, hardscape design, and other technical elements. - Client Engagement:
Participate in client meetings, share design concepts, and provide updates throughout the project lifecycle to support strong client relationships. - Sustainable Design Integration:
Embed environmentally responsible principles into project work, incorporating strategies such as stormwater management, native vegetation, and resource-efficient solutions. - Team Collaboration & Support:
Collaborate daily with a multidisciplinary team—including architects, planners, engineers, and municipal partners—and offer guidance to junior designers to support their growth. - Continued Learning:
Stay informed on evolving industry standards, technologies, and regulations. Pursue professional development opportunities through seminars, certifications, and industry events.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $43.00/hr.
