Job Description

Join National Heritage Academies (NHA) this summer as a Partner Services Intern! This is a paid in-person internship at our Grand Rapids Service Center office. The internship runs from mid‑May through early August and is open to students enrolled in a college/university program or recent graduates. For candidates that don’t meet this criteria, please explore our other open positions.

This Role

Reporting to the Senior Government Relations Associate, this position is responsible for completing and assisting in many activities that are necessary for NHA to be successful in achieving its partner services objectives while working as a part of a flexible team. The role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Coordinating engagement opportunities between partner schools and elected officials
  • Researching growth opportunities that align with NHA’s mission and vision
  • Performing research on pending legislation and other issues as assigned
  • Assisting in the development of meaningful reports and memos for internal NHA stakeholders
  • Working with colleagues to prepare representatives for public board meetings
  • Assisting with documentation and organizational tasks related to charter renewals
  • Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Working toward a degree in public administration, political science, communication, education, or business management
  • An understanding of the process of a public meeting and the legislative process
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including one‑on‑one and small group interactions
  • A results‑oriented ‘go‑getter’ who can work independently as well as a team player
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organized
What We Offer You
  • 40 hours/week
  • On‑site Monday through Friday, 8am‑5pm
  • $15.50/hour
