Responsibilities
The successful candidate will supervise accounting/finance staff, identify team and individual goals and objectives, monitor performance and suggest training opportunities to enhance professional growth. This position will develop, implement, and administer practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely establishment of accounts; payment of invoices and other payables; monitoring of revenue and receivables; bi‑weekly payroll payments; posting of payments received; balancing and reconciliation of accounts;
maintain budgets; participate in annual budget process; and/or preparation of reports and statements for operating departments, funding sources and regulatory agencies. Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, generally accepted auditing standards and practices, established County policies and procedures, and all grant regulations. Other duties will include preparing documents for auditors, oversight of grant filings, documenting and interpreting County business processes and updating software application manuals.
Will collaborate with Information Technology to problem‑solve issues. You will work with ERP platforms and Advantage4 software to ensure accurate reporting and effective process management.

QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting combined with a minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible accounting experience, including at least two (2) years' experience as a supervisor is required. Must have thorough working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices, particularly in the areas of fund accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Skills and CompetenciesRequires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written and the ability to communicate a variety of finance/accounting concepts across the organization. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications including experience maintaining and troubleshooting financial systems, ensuring smooth operations, resolving technical and process issues, and supporting accurate, timely reporting.
Ability to interact positively and objectively with elected officials, department directors, managers, employees, vendors and potential vendors from a wide range of cultural and socio‑economic backgrounds. CPA designation is strongly desired. OnBase experience is helpful.
