Manufacturing Controller

A manufacturing client in the Grand Rapids area is seeking a Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations and strengthen financial processes across the business.

This is a highly hands-on, onsite position focused on cost accounting, inventory, and partnering closely with operations.

• Own and lead month-end and year-end close
• Oversee the general ledger
  , journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Lead manufacturing cost accounting
  , including standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis
• Ensure accurate COGS reporting and inventory controls
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting
• Partner closely with operations, supply chain, and plant leadership
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and standard cost roll-ups
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies
• Support audits and work with external auditors
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff

• A current Controller
  , Assistant Controller
  , or Accounting Manager with manufacturing experience
• A hands-on accounting leader who can operate independently with minimal oversight
• Someone comfortable working 100% onsite in a manufacturing environment
• A professional who enjoys improving processes while staying close to the numbers

• Manufacturing accounting experience required
• Strong background in cost accounting, inventory, and variance analysis
• Experience owning or heavily supporting month-end close
• ERP system experience (D365, Oracle, JD Edwards, SAP, Net Suite, etc.)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Prior leadership experience preferred
• CPA a plus, not required
