Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Manufacturing Engineer
Join O’Neal Steel on Third Shift in Grand Prairie, TXOn our night team, you’ll be the steady hand that keeps production running. As the on-shift expert for plant equipment, you’ll perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on mechanical and electrical systems across CNC machines, press brakes, saws, lifting devices, and material handling lines. You’ll analyze failures, recommend upgrades that boost efficiency, capability, and yield, and capture your findings in clear technical reports.
What you’ll do
- Execute preventive maintenance and respond to unplanned downtime on production equipment and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues; restore equipment to service safely and quickly.
- Evaluate machine performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and throughput.
- Perform equipment failure analyses and document actions and results.
- Maintain electrical equipment in accordance with applicable regulatory codes.
- Program Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Test wiring, equipment, and fixtures with meters such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
- Calculate, lay out, and draw as needed; balance and align machinery.
- Perform safe rigging and other safety-related and miscellaneous maintenance functions.
- Fabricate or adapt parts from cold rolled steel, stainless, plate, structural shapes, other metals and plastics, as well as fittings, valves, and a wide range of mechanical components.
Broad troubleshooting ability with the confidence to assist on advanced processing equipment, CNC systems, material handling equipment, press brakes, lifting devices, and sawing equipment.
Hands‑on maintenance background in mechanical and/or electrical systems demonstrated by one of the following:
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, or
Completion of an electrical or mechanical repair training program, or
A comparable mix of training and experience.
