Our client is an established engineered manufacturer serving the municipal and utility infrastructure market. With a growing production facility in North Texas, they are expanding their engineering leadership team to support continued growth.
About the RoleWe’re seeking a Design Manager to join the Grand Prairie facility and lead the steel pipe engineering function. This is an on-site leadership role overseeing a team of Project Engineers and ensuring all steel pipe design packages are accurate, compliant, and fabrication-ready.
This role works closely with production, quality, scheduling, and project management teams to ensure engineering deliverables support manufacturing timelines and customer specifications.
What You’ll Do- Lead and mentor a team of Project Engineers focused on steel pipe and fittings design
- Review, approve, and oversee development of engineering drawings and technical design packages
- Ensure all steel pipe designs meet applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements
- Provide technical guidance on structural calculations, pipe design, and fabrication details
- Coordinate closely with production and operations to ensure drawings are accurate and ready for manufacturing
- Monitor engineering workloads and ensure design deliverables align with project schedules
- Support technical discussions with customers, contractors, and internal teams
- Participate in onsite design reviews and walkthroughs to stay aligned with plant operations
- Drive improvements in design processes, standardization, and quality control
- 7–10+ years of experience in steel pipe design, pipeline engineering, structural steel, or steel fabrication
- Prior leadership or team lead experience within an engineering group
- Strong ability to review and approve fabrication-ready drawings
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering calculation tools
- Experience working in a manufacturing or engineered-to-order production environment
- Knowledge of applicable industry standards (AWWA, ASME, etc.) preferred
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain preferred
- Must be based within commuting distance of Grand Prairie (no remote)
