Mechanical Design Engineer SR-GMLRS

Description

You will be the Mechanical Design Engineer for the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) team. Our group delivers high quality missile and launch pod designs, updates technical data packages, and supports production to meet demanding customer requirements.

As the Mechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible for driving GMLRS and LCRRPR missile pod technical data package updates and completing program related tasks for SR GMLRS. You’ll work closely with Stress Analysis, Materials & Processes, Test, Production, and senior Mechanical Engineers, initially under guidance and quickly moving toward independent ownership. The role is based in Grand Prairie, TX with up to 50% telecommuting.

• Update and release engineering drawings, models, and specifications for GMLRS and launch pod systems.
• Maintain and improve the GMLRS Technical Data Package (TDP) to support low rate production.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams (stress, materials, test, production) to resolve design issues and ensure manufacturability.
• Conduct design reviews, generate clear briefing materials, and communicate status to leadership.
• Perform root cause analysis of field reported problems and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Mentor junior engineers and share best practices to elevate team performance.

• Strong performance as an individual contributor.
• Familiarity with supporting functions including Quality, Stress Analysis, Production Operations.
• Geometric Dimension and Tolerance experience.
• Missile or Rocket program experience is preferred but not required.

• Proficiency in PTC Creo for part and assembly design, and Windchill for managing engineering data and documentation.
• Previous experience in a Material Review Board (MRB) role, particularly in a production setting.
• Familiarity with transition from development to production, including resolution of design issues and optimization for mass production.
• Experience in mechanical design (preferably production phase) in aerospace or similar industry.
• Prior experience with Lockheed Martin programs or similar defense contractors is a plus.
• Experience working with and providing technical oversight to subcontracted suppliers.

This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a U.S. Citizen and obtain a Secret clearance.
