Summary

A tile installer is responsible for measuring, cutting and installing tile on various surfaces for Carpet One customers. The installer plays an important role in the customer service experience and quality of product. They report to the sales manager and the sales professional at the store. The installer also supervises any installation assistants or helpers on the job. Must be comfortable working with a variety of materials, including marble, ceramic, porcelain and stone.

Having experience in tile setting is a requirement.

Duties
  • Maintain a level of professionalism while representing the Carpet One brand on the road and with customers.
  • Preparing the surface: removing existing materials, cleaning, leveling, and shaping the surface.
  • Measuring and cutting: measuring the area and cutting the tile to fit.
  • Applying adhesive: mixing, applying, and spreading mortar, glue or other adhesives.
  • Installing the tile: laying the tile, adding spacer, and applying grout.
  • Finishing: applying finishes, such as sealants and stains.
  • Knowledge, skill and experience with a variety of installation methods.
  • Communicating: communicating with clients to ensure project satisfaction.
  • Communication with sales professional on the progress of the project and if any issues occur during the installation to avoid addressing problems with the customer directly.
  • Maintaining a clean work environment: keeping the job site clean and safe.
  • Arriving at the work-site on time.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year of tile installation/tile setting experience is required.

  • Portfolio of completed projects.
Education / Experience
  • High school diploma, or equivalent is required.
  • At least 1 year of installation experience is required.
Technical Skills
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to operate a truck or van.
  • Ability to push, pull and lift materials weighing up to 70 pounds.
Mathematical Skills
  • Understand and effectively communicate numerical data.
  • Calculate and understand simple figures and amounts.
