Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Automotive Technician, Diesel Mechanic
Provides timely, quality maintenance for Fed Ex vehicle fleet and ground support equipment, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, and documentation. Documents work and maintains adequate inventory using Fed Ex computer systems. Ensures work complies with OSHA and DOT standards. Guides and supports a staff of technicians and trainees. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum EducationHigh school diploma/GED. Vocational training from an accredited automotive-related vocational school preferred. ASE Master certification preferred.
Minimum ExperienceFour (4) years of fleet, automotive, or truck vehicle advanced technical repair and maintenance experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of the use and operation of all equipment and testing tools associated with troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, gasoline, diesel, electric, and hybrid motorized equipment.
- Proficient in operating a personal computer.
- Demonstrates teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Possession of basic automotive hand tools, including metric sizes.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and maneuver heavier weights with assistance.
- Ability to work without supervision for extended periods.
- Work in noisy, non air-conditioned/heated areas.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Willing to work any shift.
- Valid driver's license in the state of residence.
- Meet qualifications outlined in section 391 of the federal motor carrier safety regulations.
- Medical exam required.
- Subject to regulatory alcohol & drug testing, including tests for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine, and opioids.
