General Purpose

The Retail Associate ensures our customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers, treats fellow associates with respect, follows best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to be engaged in these tasks during all working hours and may be requested to perform additional tasks as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Understands safety as the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; remains friendly and professional.
  • Assists customers at all times, is register‑trained, responds, and greets with a smile.
  • Handles customer issues promptly and courteously, calling a member of Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks—sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas—to maintain store cleanliness.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company’s dress code.
  • Prints assigned sizing and recovery per best practice to keep the store organized and merchandised.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor with urgency, merchandises items per monthly guidelines, and maintains brand familiarity.
  • Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program, the Shortage Highway, the Store Protection Specialist (SPS) position (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, credit‑card information, and merchandise.
  • Follows all MOS policies, pricing, disposals, and cash‑handling procedures with accuracy.
  • Maximizes productivity by executing best practices and minimizing steps in workflow.

Qualifications and Special Skills
  • Effectively communicates with customers, associates, and leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner.
  • Performs basic mathematical calculations used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements (ADA)

Ability to use store equipment including PDTs, registers, and PC; spend up to 100% of work time standing, walking, and moving around the store; regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds; use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.

Certain Assignments May Require Other Qualifications and Skills

Associates who work Stockroom shifts must be able to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
