Role Overview

This position is responsible for assisting and administering medications as outlined by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, including verifying the accuracy of the medications administered, documenting, reporting errors, and reordering medications as required. The role also provides clients with protective oversight and is responsive in meeting the needs and requests of residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior that aligns with the values of Hilltop’s Assisted Living Communities (ALCs), including Service 1 and Service 2 standards such as setting boundaries, being predictable, consistent, kind, and transparent.
  • Administer medications as outlined by physician orders, verifying medications against the Medications Administration Record.
  • Strictly follow the rights of medication administration process: right medication, right resident, right dose, right time, right route, right reason, and right documentation.
  • Promote and participate in positive customer relations by learning and using resident names; acknowledging residents and visitors; answering the phone as needed; having knowledge of the facility, where to direct people, and how to access resources; maintaining confidentiality; and demonstrating a positive attitude.
  • Follow all Corporate, Program, and State Medication Administration policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Monitor narcotic medications by counting all assigned narcotics prior to receiving control over the medication cart and conducting a narcotic count before giving control of the cart to another individual.
  • Complete assigned documentation within prescribed timelines promptly, accurately, and legibly.
  • Report all medication errors immediately and complete the required documentation for medication errors.
  • Clean assigned medication carts prior to the end of the shift by emptying trash, wiping down the cart, organizing medications, and replenishing supplies.
  • Answer radio, pager, and the resident request system.
  • Assume Care Specialist duties as needed.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus six months of related work experience preferred, but not required. Minimum 18 years of age required.

  • Colorado Identification Card (required)
  • Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (QMAP) Certification (required)
  • CPR Certificate/First Aid Certificate (preferred)
  • De‑Escalation Training (preferred)
