Position: Health Care Services Trainee - Grand Junction Regional Center (Western Slope).

Overview

Health Care Service Trainee positions provide hands‑on direct care to clients who are individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The trainee assists with personal hygiene, therapeutic activities, and daily living tasks for up to 12 residents in a home‑like environment.

Responsibilities
  • Receive training in nursing skills, medication administration, developmental disability theory, behavior management, and supporting daily activities.
  • Support clients by implementing behavior programs, positive redirection, and therapeutic milieu.
  • Assist with meal preparation, eating, bathing, personal hygiene, social skills, recreation, housekeeping, laundry, safety, and transportation.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, emergency procedures, and prevention of abuse or neglect.
Qualifications
  • No prior experience required; strong desire to learn and support adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
  • State of Colorado residency at the time of application and throughout employment.
  • Clear background check: CDHS, CBI, fingerprint, other required checks.
  • Valid, non‑restricted Colorado Driver’s License (within 30 miles of the state border). Out‑of‑state license holders must obtain Colorado license within 30 days of hire.
  • Must pass TB test and required vaccines; able to exert up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Schedule

Full‑time, 12‑hour shifts on a rotating two‑week schedule:
Week 1 – 3 days on / 4 days off;
Week 2 – 4 days on / 3 days off. Shifts may be 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (day) or 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. (night). Specific shift assignment will be determined upon hire.
