Overview
Title:
Patient Care Coordinator
FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt
Full-Time
Pay Range: $18 - $23 per hour
Office is open 7:30am-7:30pm Mon – Fri, alternating Saturday
ResponsibilitiesDescription: The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for new patients’ smooth transition into the practice, existing patients’ ongoing dental care, communication with patients during treatment, and communication with specialty offices.
Duties:
Patient Services
- Greet patients and manage front desk operations to ensure a welcoming environment.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring efficient use of time slots.
- Maintain accurate patient records using Denal software.
- Assist with clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing correspondence.
- Provide information to patients regarding procedures, services, and insurance coverage.
- Handle patient inquiries and resolve issues promptly to enhance patient satisfaction.
- Support the dental assistant and dentist as needed, including processing payments and verifying insurance information.
- Utilize medical coding knowledge to assist in billing processes where applicable.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk area.
- Arrange referral appointments and manage communications with specialty offices when requested.
- Present treatment plans to patients when instructed by the Dentist or Dental Hygienist.
- Call patients after a difficult treatment visit.
Records and Finance
- Send a copy of the patient record for consultation with specialists when requested.
- Securely store and handle patient records in compliance with legal requirements, including HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
- Arrange payment plans with patients.
- Fluent in English and Spanish, preferred.
- Proven experience in an administrative role within a dental office setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and coding practices is beneficial.
- Strong clerical skills including 10 key typing proficiency and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Previous experience as a dental receptionist is required or in office management is a plus.
- A commitment to providing exceptional patient care and support.
