Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position, requiring a NE or compact RN license and 3 years of L&D experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care Labor & Delivery (LDRP) unit with 15 LDRP beds and approximately 400 births per year

• Patient population includes obstetric, post-partum, antepartum, post-surgical GYN, and high-risk pregnancies

• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3, and 1:1 for actively laboring patients, following AWHONN guidelines

• Responsibilities include titrating drips such as Pitocin, Magnesium, and Procardia

• Uses Epic EMR system

• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required

• Holiday coverage may be required based on facility needs

• Floating is rare and only occurs in critical staffing situations, limited to sitting or task-based assignments

• Charge nurse present on every shift

• RNs provide comprehensive care for patients in all stages of labor, delivery, and post-partum, including high-risk obstetric cases

• One week of classroom orientation plus 2-3 floor shifts for department-specific orientation provided

• Breastfeeding-friendly unit with high patient experience scores

• Strict fingernail policy prohibits artificial nails for all patient care providers

• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off permitted per 13-week contract and must be submitted up front

• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility as determined by driver's license

• Returning candidates must not have been employed by Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year

Requirements

• Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted

• Minimum 3 years recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience required

• Current BLS and NRP certifications required; pending certifications not accepted

• Driver's license required for address verification and compliance with 50-mile radius rule

• Must not be currently employed in any capacity with Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities

• Successful completion of pass/fail skills exam during orientation, requiring a score of 90% or higher
