The Travel Center Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the total operation of the assigned location in the absence of the Manager.

- Hires, disciplines, and terminates staff with the involvement of the Travel Center Manager and Corporate Human Resource Department.
- Ensures all required files, forms, checklists and other documentation is complete, accurate and delivered in a timely manner.
- Is proficient in opening and closing a shift, including complete and timely delivery of required documentation.
- Ensures customer needs are met and implements the company’s policy on customer service.
- Supervises cash control and bank deposits.
- Ensures employees are following the proper procedures for all aspects of food operations and handling/storage of product, which complies with all food handling guidelines to meet or exceed state/federal regulations.
- Projects a positive attitude.
- Handles all problems dealing with customers, personnel, or mechanical.
- Ensures the cleanliness, organization, and overall appearances of assigned store meets company standards and are in proper working order, inside and out.
- Ensures all items are properly ordered; stocked to inventory levels; and priced correctly.
- Implements and follows-up on company training procedures; ensures all team members are supervised and trained properly and thoroughly.
- Trains all associates in food handling and company procedures including proper hold time and code dating.
- Ensures that all food products are stored properly and code dated with expiration dates; ensures that all products whether cooked or stored are held at proper temperatures.
- Makes sure shifts are covered.
- Reflects and ensures all staff are in proper working uniform, neat and clean, at all times.
- Implements and enforces all company policies and procedures.
- Reports all maintenance, customer, and personnel problems to upper management regularly.
- Keeps necessary records - merchandise, personnel, and fuel.
- Keeps a safe and healthy workplace.
- Coaches and supports other team members.
- Maintains and monitors store inventory.
- Attends management and training meetings, as required.
- Provides friendly and competent customer service.
- Reports for work in a timely manner when scheduled with regular and consistent attendance.
Job Duties
- Assisting in other duties, as assigned.
- Directly supervises 4 to 20 employees.
- Minimum of six months as sales associate required.
- Associated Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have a Food Handler’s permit or Serve Safe Certification where required by law or policy.
- Must have knowledge of operations and maintenance of all equipment in the assigned stores.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
- Must have effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends and holidays.
- Must work a minimum of two (2) weekends per month and two (2) late shifts per week.
- Must work a minimum of 50 hours per week.
- Must have reliable transportation and phone.
- Must be able to communicate in English.
- IF APPLICABLE. - Able and willing to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service.
- Able and willing to work cooperatively with other team members.

- Physical attendance at the primary work location is required.
