Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role based in Grand Island, NE, for a Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist will handle day-to-day payroll administration duties, including processing payroll, managing garnishments, and ensuring compliance with payroll tax requirements. The role involves working closely with clients to deliver accurate and efficient payroll services, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of payroll management.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Knowledgeable in basic accounting concepts
  • Be aware of and comply with pronouncements of professional and other regulatory groups
  • Report directly to the assigned Supervisor
  • Maintain and reconcile client’s monthly books and insure proper recording of entries
  • Prepare simple financial statements in identified format
  • Reconcile bank accounts and trace discrepancies
  • Prepare correspondence as needed to interested parties
  • Prepare payroll for clients and payroll related tax reporting
  • Prepare sales and use tax reports, as well as occupation tax reports
  • Attain on-going professional continuing education
Skills and Abilities
  • A Bachelor’s/Associate’s degree in accounting or equivalent work experience
  • Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data
  • Must be skilled in the use of Quick Books
  • Must be highly skilled in use of Excel Spreadsheets
  • Must be skilled in use of MS Word
  • Must have very good verbal skills
  • Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines occur.
