About The Unit
The Grand Haven Ambulatory Surgical Center has 6 pre/post endoscopy rooms, 12 pre/post OR rooms and 8 PACU bays. Our outpatient surgical center conducts endoscopies such as Esophagogastroduodenoscopies and Colonoscopies. We also provide services with orthopedic, ENT, general surgery, pain, and gynecological procedures. This outpatient center does not have a hospital attached; all surgeries are outpatient. We do not have weekend or night hours.
This surgical unit is a great place to advance your assessment skills, work as a team, and be flexible in your assignments. Our team is highly engaged in patient and staff safety while maintaining high patient satisfaction scores. We are a team that works well together and adapts to change well.

There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, which allows those who work in these clinics the opportunity to learn and explore various interests or to specialize in one area.
Scope of WorkThe Registered Nurse, Procedural possesses advanced education in administering patient sedation and/or monitoring of patient post-sedation or anesthesia. The RN Procedural utilizes extensive patient assessment skills, collaborates with all healthcare team members to ensure the most optimal patient outcome. Performs all activities at an expanded level of nursing practice within the context of the nursing process. Maintains education in ACLS and/or sedation, allowing them to safely care for patients that are at risk due to sedation/anesthesia and procedures.
If working with the pediatric population, PALS training may be obtained. If working in the intra-operative area, the RN Procedural maintains a high level of expertise in the cases they assist with. The Registered Nurse, Procedural perioperative nurse plans, coordinates, delivers, and evaluates nursing care for patients whose protective reflexes or self-care abilities are potentially compromised during operative or other invasive procedures.
- Associates in Nursing required
- Bachelors in Nursing required within 5 years
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) required
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months
- 1-2+ years of procedural RN experience preferred
