As a Building Services Technician, you will contribute to the success of the organization through one or more of the following responsibilities:
- Perform custodial work required for the cleaning, upkeep, and maintenance of buildings
- Move furniture and equipment; collect waste, paper and recycling materials; perform other custodial duties as required
- Scrub, mop, and sweep floors and other surfaces; clean, renovate, and renew floor surface finishes
- Wash windows, walls, and woodwork
- Clean and disinfect public restrooms
- Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, fixtures, and related furnishings
- Sweep and clean walks, remove snow, and generally assist in keeping outside premises clean and orderly
- Lock and unlock doors; provide limited security when buildings are not occupied
- Report minor and major maintenance and equipment issues to appropriate personnel
- Read and comprehend directions on labels for mixing chemicals safely
- Complete necessary training for this job classification
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds daily and frequently
- Must be able to move 100 pounds with assistance occasionally
- Must be able to work in buildings containing asbestos materials
- Subject to callbacks 24-7
- All other duties as assigned
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform the duties of the position
- Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
- Must be able to understand, speak, read, and write English well enough to perform the functions of the position, including reading and communicating in regards to work orders, safety instructions, and chemical labels
- A high school degree, GED, or equivalent directly related experience
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
- Basic desktop computer experience and knowledge
- Experience with materials, equipment, and methods used in the cleaning and upkeep of buildings
