Position Summary
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying product requirements for enhancement of safety, quality, cost, reduction, and throughput. This position will identify, prepare justifications, and coordinate the design and development of new processes, systems, and equipment – both automated and non-automated. This role will serve as a subject matter expert in the areas of manufacturing to provide effective support and troubleshooting.
CoreFunctions
- Identify, plan, implement, and monitor the use of technology to improve, streamline, and automate manufacturing processes.
- Develop automated and non-automated manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
- Communicate recommendations for changes, prepare cost justifications, and coordinate the design and development of new processes, systems, equipment, or materials.
- Utilize process mapping and value stream analysis tools to improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Conduct and analyze time and motion studies to ensure optimal part/product flow.
- Lead manufacturing projects to ensure timeline, cost, and outcome expectations are met.
- Provide support to product design engineering and production during design, development, and implementation of new and improved products. Assist with troubleshooting or problem-solving activities.
- Design and develop fixtures and tooling related to the enhancement of manufactured processes, product changes, and new products that are consistent with a zero-defect level and low product cost.
- Lead and train others in utilizing lean manufacturing tools to deliver results.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
- 4+ years of engineering work experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- 2D and/or 3D CAD experience is required (preferably in AutoCAD and Solid Works).
- ERP or other manufacturing software experience is preferred.
- CNC, PLC, Robotic programming experience is preferred.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to understand and develop technical drawings.
- Ability to create, document, evaluate, and maintain work instructions for production.
- Advanced mathematical skills.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
- Ability to effectively present information to management clearly and concisely.
- Occasional travel may be required.
