Non-Tenure-Track Faculty. This position will work onsite at the Grand Forks, ND campus.
- Prepare and instruct specific course content in the pre-OT program and the OTD program as assigned by the department chair each academic year. This includes developing assignments, course materials, handouts, and course grading.
- Refer discipline concerns to assigned course director and/or department chair. Maintain office/discipline/division records as required by the Department, SMHS and University.
- Conduct all classes in accordance with an established and current course syllabus and approved textbook (and/or related instructional material). Participate in textbook adoption and review as requested
- Advise students in the pre-occupational therapy program
- Engage in student recruitment activities.
- Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, engaging in professional development activities, and networking with colleagues.
- Document engagement in life-long learning in the areas including (but not limited to) higher education, student-centered learning, occupational therapy best practice, and teaching/learning technology. Maintain a faculty development plan demonstrating progress on effectiveness of teaching.
- Participate in scheduled faculty mentoring activities each semester. Maintain regular documented contact with assigned mentor.
- Attend and participate in scheduled department meetings as requested by department chair.
- Use the appropriate policies and procedures to resolve and document student complaints, concerns, and problems.
- Faculty are expected to be active in and support national and state professional/academic organizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Department Chairperson, Dean, or University Administrators.
- (Essential) - Must possess appropriate documented academic and experiential qualifications and backgrounds necessary to meet curriculum design, content delivery, program evaluation and the mission of the University/OT Department.
- Must obtain and hold appropriate state licensure for professional practice (when licensure is applicable for discipline)
- Must hold a minimum of a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Maintain a high level of professional ethics as outlined by AOTA and the University.
- Ensure knowledge of and compliance with ADA requirements within classes assigned.
- Must have strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Evidence of strong team skills suitable for team teaching and collaboration
- Earned master’s degree. Individual must earn a PhD, or EdD within seven years of hire. Individuals eligible for employee tuition assistance.
- Entry level degree in Occupational Therapy (master’s or entry-level doctorate)
- 3 years of practice experience
- OT Licensure or ability to become licensed in ND
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

- Teaching experience with evidence of three or more semesters of teaching
- Focused practice in one of the following areas for a year:
- Experience in pediatric practice
- Experience in neuromusculoskeletal
- Experience in orthoses and modalities
- Experience in mental functions
- Experience with concept-based teaching
